Boot strides into Keys

Majority one of smallest in Keys history

The three-vote decider in Glenfaba was one of the closest results in Keys election history - and a recount was held before the result was declared.

Mr Boot, a businessman with many interests in the UK and strong ties with the Conservative party, won the seat at the third attempt.

He was narrowly beaten by David Anderson twice at general elections.

But after the former MHK moved to Legislative Council, the coast was clear for Geoffrey Boot's latest, and at last successful attempt.

Mr Boot admitted he had much to learn - and the hard work had just begun

David Anderson was at last night's count to witness the election of his successor. 

After the result, he stopped short of congratulating Mr Boot, but conceded he had worked hard to achieve his aim:  

Turnout in Glenfaba was 54 per cent.
