Energy firm discusses proposal to harvest methane gas

The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group is warning the challenge for farmers to stay afloat is 'enormous' in the current economic climate.

But the organisation, which provides advice to the industry, are hopes some of the pressure could be alleviated if the sector can harvest methane as a means for generating renewable energy.

Cornish energy firm Bennamann is on-Island proposing the technology - which is estimated to cost between £60,000 and £500,000 - to government and agriculturalists.

The company's business strategist Seamus Gallagher told Manx Radio there's a possibility some may leave the profession:
