Cafe and new mezzanine floor proposed
There's been a bid to give Peel Cathedral a major makeover.
The Bishop and Chapter have sought planning permission to transform the building into a 'community exhibition space'.
It's known by many names - Peel Cathedral, the Cathedral Church of St German, and more recently 'Cathedral Isle of Man'.
In recent years the Diocese has been keen to pull the Island's 130-year-old spiritual heart into the modern age.
So a rebranding exercise continues.
If planners give their blessing, the new-look Cathedral would feature underfloor heating, a brand new mezzanine floor, eco-friendly roof lighting, and a welcoming café (at the expense of the southern vestry).
There could even be a reconditioned organ.
