Treasury Minister explains terms of use in Keys today
There is a possibility the Ben-my-Chree could be hired out to support other Crown Dependencies in the future.
That's from the treasury minister, who confirmed in the House of Keys today (Tuesday 13 February) that the availability of the MV Arrow as a back-up vessel for Manx freight may enable the move.
Alex Allinson was asked whether chartering her out would affect the Sea Services Agreement, which currently stipulates the ship has to be retained as a back-up vehicle for the Manxman.
But Dr Allinson said the option would only be on the table at certain times of the year, and under certain conditions:
