Baldrine residents rally to save last remaining community space in village

Building not being sold but still concerns about its future

On Friday night, residents in Baldrine rallied around to try and find a way to save what's been deemed the last remaining community space in the village.

It was confirmed at the meeting that the hall is not being sold by the Isle of Man Methodist Council but there are still questions about the building’s future.

About 40 residents gathered to hear the various reasons that could cause its closure including a ‘dwindling’ congregation.

One of the politicians in attendance was Garff Commissioner Jamie Smith who said the commissioners are unable to provide funding but can provide other support:

The general feeling amongst attendees was one of sadness at the buildings potential closure but they say they entirely understand the position facing the church:
