Importance of mediation highlighted
When a married couple decides to split, it's important to soften the blow for all involved.
That's the message that's been highlighted in the Island during Family Mediation Week.
The awareness scheme has been encouraging separating divorcees to sit down together, and work out solutions to the financial and family issues that are often part and parcel of proceedings.
The goal is for both sides to come to an amicable agreement - limiting financial and, more importantly, emotional damage.
Chair of the Manx Family Mediation Network, John Kermode, says avoiding the courts can be a much better way forward.
