Onchan authority proposed no increase
A local authority is questioning the Department of Infrastructure's decision to raise public sector housing rents by two per cent from next April.
The increase was announced following consultation with 15 local housing authorities on the Island, a rise described by DoI chiefs as ‘modest’ and ‘as fair as possible’ without means testing in place.
Chief executive of Onchan Commissioners Michael Morrison says they've told the department they don't want to impose the increase on their tenants but were not given the option.
