Staff shortages continue to affect sector in general
It will take 'at least two years' to build up the number of apprentices in the construction trade to pre-pandemic levels.
That's the belief of Les Nichol, Managing Director of NK Construction who says labour shortages in general continue to affect the sector.
Usually the company has as many as four apprentices on board at any time but it only has two available as it stands due to the impact of Covid.
Mr Nichol says there are some other options which could be looked at to help staffing levels in the short to medium term:
Fast-tracked legislation was designed to close 'loophole of expanding problem'
Farmers 'feeling the squeeze' more than ever says MNFU
Too soon to say if Finnish TT rider will have permanent vision problems
MLC given leave to introduce bill to tackle gazumping and gazundering
