Assisted dying residency requirement 'may need slight adjustment'

MLC believes those with new diagnosis could be excluded under current proposals

The MLC moving the assisted dying bill through the Legislative Council believes there may need to be further changes to the residency requirement.

After amendments in the House of Keys, a person would have to have lived on the Isle of Man for five years before they can request an assisted death.

Peter Greenhill underwent treatment for a brain tumour four years after moving to the Island, so wouldn't have been eligible for an assisted death had he received a terminal diagnosis.
