Additional £5.5 million for DHSC
The health and social care minister has welcomed a boost for his department in the latest Manx Budget, but warned against the effect it could have on other parts of government.
David Ashford said £5.5 million of additional funding allocated by Treasury for 2018/19 would help fight the recurring overspend in healthcare, in addition to a comprehensive review of how services were paid for.
More than £20 million has been given to the Department of Health and Social Care in extra government funding over the last two years, in addition to an increase of around £10 million in last year's budget.
But Mr Ashford also said extra help should not come at the expense of other areas:
