Residents urged to use it or lose it
'Use it or lose it' - that's what residents in Foxdale are being told as they're given a final chance to save their local post office.
Sub postmaster Ellan Vannin Fuels has resigned after running the facility for four years - blaming its financial dire straits on low numbers of counter transactions.
However, EVF has extended its notice period from August until December in a bid to encourage residents to use the office, after an appeal by Patrick Commissioners.
Statistics show the average person uses it only four times a year - with only 1,296 people living there.
Until the notice period draws to a close, Foxdale Post Office will operate on reduced hours, between 9am and 12pm from Monday to Saturday.
