Event marks anniversary of martyr's execution
A ceremony marking the anniversary of the death of a Manx martyr takes place in the south of the Island this afternoon.
The annual Illiam Dhone Commemoration gets underway at Hango Hill in Castletown at 2pm.
The event is held each year to mark the execution of William Christian, known as Illiam Dhone, who led the Manx Rebellion of 1651.
The uprising saw control of the Island handed over to parliamentary forces during the English Civil War, with Dhone executed for treason in 1663.
