Douglas Central MHK replaces Daphne Caine
Douglas Central MHK Ann Corlett has received unanimous backing to become the new Deputy Speaker of the House of Keys.
The role had been left vacant by Daphne Caine, who replaced Onchan MHK Julie Edge as education minister last week.
Mrs Corlett was nominated by Douglas North MHK David Ashford who cited her 'experience and expertise'.
Her first sitting as deputy speaker will be in two week's time.
After being successfully elected, Mrs Corlett gave a short statement:
