'Reconsider relationship with Europe', says candidate

A general election candidate says he is worried about the amount of legislation the Isle of Man is forced to adopt.

Jason Moorhouse is a teacher and is contesting the single seat in Castletown, made vacant by the retirement from politics of long-serving member of the House of Keys Tony Brown.

Mr Moorhouse says in the past administration around 80 laws have been brought in by MHKs, but over 4,500 have 'drifted' in through the Island's association with the European Union through the Protocol 3 arrangement.

Mr Moorhouse is worried that the Island has to bend too much for the benefits it receives, and believes the relationship should be reexamined (listen to audio file below):

Four other people are standing in Castletown, namely David Pownall, and local commissioners Colin Leather, Carol Quine and Richard Ronan.
