Amber warning issued for inner harbour flooding and coastal overtopping

Multiple areas at risk during high tide overnight

An amber weather warning has been issued for inner harbour flooding and coastal overtopping overnight tonight.

It will be in place from 11pm until 3am (18-19 October).

High spring tides are expected to lead to slight to moderate flooding in areas surrounding inner harbours.

The areas most at risk are:

Douglas: The Tongue, North Quay and Lake Road near Tesco.

Ramsey: Mezeron corner, West Quay and Parliament St. Flood defences need to be deployed.

Castletown: Risk for Castletown prom extending towards Douglas St. Flood defences need to be deployed.

Laxey: Risk for Laxey prom extending towards Tent Rd.

Peel: Risk for East Quay

Meanwhile, coastal overtopping is also expected around the time of high tide (around 1am) with moderate overtopping of waves and significant debris. 

Areas at risk include: Shore Road, Rushen, Castletown prom, northern end of Douglas prom and to a lesser extent Laxey prom, Ramsey prom and Fenella Beach, Peel.

The Department of Infrastructure has shared details of where people can find sandbags:
