Legislation now moves to clauses stage
The MHK campaigning for reform of Manx abortion laws has hailed what he's described as a 'momentous' occasion for the country.
Yesterday (30 Tues) in the House of Keys, the Abortion Reform Bill 2018 received its second reading with the unanimous support of members.
The legislation will now pass to the clauses stage next month, after a motion by Chris Robertshaw to have the Bill referred to a committee failed.
Ramsey member Dr Alex Allinson says public engagement with the ethics of abortion reform, from those with a variety of viewpoints, has been a major positive.
He's also praised members for the quality of the debate held within the court.
