Aim to start Vaccination programme before Christmas

975 doses due to arrive on Island

A Christmas present for our whole community.

That's how Chief Minister Howard Quayle has described the Covid-19 vaccine at today's media conference.

It's hoped 975 doses will arrive on Island next week, with the vaccination programme starting the week after.

While he said it was hugely positive news, he warned it would be a complex logistical exercise especially given the nature of the Pfizer vaccine:

Meanwhile, the guidance regarding who should be vaccinated against Covid-19 has been updated.

It comes after two NHS workers in the UK had allergic reactions to the jab on Tuesday.

They had a history of allergies and both carry epi pens.
