Reminder of the dangers - especially near piers and harbours
Anyone swimming in the sea around the Island, especially near piers and harbours, is being urged to stay safe.
The Isle of Man Harbours and Coastguard team has published advice on anyone taking part in open water swimming.
It includes examples of the potential risks, such as strong currents and marine traffic.
Also ways to reduce risk by planning, knowing the environment and maintaining visibility - it also advises against ever swimming alone and always going with a companion.
All that said; Isle of Man Harbours says open water swimming can be a fantastic and exhilarating experience, only it's essential to be aware of potential dangers.
