Force speaks out after recent media claims
The Isle of Man Constabulary says it wants to reassure anyone intending to report an historic case of abuse that they will be given full support.
In a statement this morning, the Island's police force says recent media coverage suggested local officers had failed to respond to a complaint from a man living in Norfolk, when in fact the case had not been reported to them by their UK counterparts.
Police on the Island say they want to make it clear that anyone who needs to make a complaint about any abuse, historic or otherwise, should not be discouraged from coming forward.
It's pointed out that cases are always dealt with by experienced officers who support the wishes of the victim at every stage of the investigation.
