It's fifty years to the day (29/06) since Manx Radio broadcast its first ever programme.
Manx Radio was the first licenced commercial station in the British Isles and was a blueprint for commercial local radio which arrived in the rest of Britain almost a decade later(1973).
The first voice listeners heard was that of John Grierson, the station's first General Manager, who got things going with "Hello Dolly" by jazz great, Louis Armstrong.
