21 residents affected as care home in Peel announces closure

Directors say there is no way to make Corrin Memorial Home 'viable'

Twenty-one residents at a care home in Peel will be forced to find alternative accommodation.

Corrin Memorial Home has today announced it is planning to close in July.

The Board of Directors say the decision has been made with 'deep regret' and has not been 'arrived at easily'.

The directors claim, that despite working 'tirelessly', they can find no way to make the home viable. 

Government’s registration and inspection unit has been notified of the plans which will impact residents, their families and staff.

The board has pledged to do everything it can to minimise the impact for all concerned – formal consultation with staff has started today. 

It says it does have sufficient funding within reserves to ensure it can meet all current and future financial obligations up to, and including, the proposed closure.

The statement adds: "We will do our best to support our residents and their families through the coming weeks and will be working closely with Social Services to make alternative arrangements for our residents.  

"Our aim is to ensure all of Corrin Home's twenty-one current residents will be moved to new accommodation before the home closes for good."
