Treasury Minister reveals plans to help those on lowest incomes
A support package costing around £1m will be made available to those on the lowest incomes if a 27.5% gas price rise is given the go ahead.
Treasury Minister David Ashford outlined the financial packages in Tynwald this afternoon.
Those eligible for the winter bonus scheme will receive an additional £100 lump sum, while those on income support, including those on employed person's allowance, who don't normally receive the payment will get a standalone £100 payout, with additional funds available for those just above the income support threshold.
The Manx Gas price rise is currently being debated in Tynwald.
