Book tells chilling story of Snaefell Mine Disaster
A local author has released a book to commorate the 125th anniversary of the Snaefell Mine Disaster.
On 10 May 1897, miners on an early shift at the mine climbed down the mine shaft to begin their work. But minutes later, they climbed up and out the mine signalling that something was wrong.
Twenty miners died - it's considered one of the worst accidents in Manx history.
The book is currently available from J J Ribbons in Laxey, the Lexicon Bookshop in Douglas, the Bridge Bookshop in Ramsey and Port Erin, or Manx National Heritage.
