Willaston School unveils new community clock

Time piece reflects one of school's core values says headteacher

In what has been described as a symbol of progression and community spirit, Willaston Primary School has unveiled its new external clock.

The installation, completed by the Department of Infrastructure's works division, marks the end of an era for the original time piece, which had been a part of the school's facade for decades but hadn't worked reliably for many years.

Headteacher Max Kelly says the new clock on the front of the school building, is not just intended to be for the school but also a communal asset for the entire Willaston estate, reflecting the school's commitment to serving not only its pupils but also the broader community.

He says "this new clock is more than just a way to tell time; it's a symbol of our commitment to the future and our respect for the past. 

"It represents the timeless values we instil in our pupils – punctuality, reliability, and a sense of belonging to a community that extends beyond the school gates. 

"We are thrilled that this new addition will be appreciated by everyone in the Willaston estate, reinforcing the strong bond between our school and the community we serve."

It is hoped that the new clock will become a local landmark and a point of pride for both the school and the community. 

Mr Kelly says it stands as a testament to the successful collaboration between Willaston School and the Department of Infrastructure, highlighting the importance of community partnerships in enhancing public spaces.
