Scoill Phurt le Moirrey honoured in Manchester
A school in Port St Mary has been recognised for 'championing' children's mental health as it won a UK award this month.
Scoill Phurt le Moirrey collected the Happiness Heroes accolade at myHappymind LIVE 2026 in Manchester.
Simon Murphy, Executive Headteacher of Scoill Phurt le Moirrey and Rushen Primary School, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our children and the way they’ve embraced the programme.
For us, it’s about giving children the tools to ‘know what to do, when they don’t know what to do’.
MyHappymind is a programme aimed at primary school aged children which hopes to give them practical strategies to develop resilience, confidence and positive relationships.
“It takes a village to raise a child, and we’re fortunate to be part of some wonderful villages — from our own school communities and the wider Isle of Man education community to the partners who work alongside us, including the myHappymind family." Mr Murphy added.
"Working together to help children thrive is what really matters.”
The award recognised how youngsters at the school are actively using what they have learned to support their own mental health and that of others.
