School holds Christmas charity food drive
Children at Peel Clothworkers' School have collected bags of food to be donated to the Isle of Man Foodbank.
In what's described as a 'competitive' food drive held between 11-15 December, pupils collected 867.5 kg of produce, including over 150 kg of UHT milk - something said to always be in high demand at the foodbank.
Teachers say they explained to the students 'what a food bank is, when people might need to use one, and why it’s important to help others when we can'.
The items to be donated were then brought in from home.
The winning class (Miss Lace’s 6L) donated 209.5kg, earning themselves a 'class treat'.
