Motiv8 gets £50,000 grant for new family support programme

Charity benefits from Manx Lottery Trust's Dormant Assets Fund

Manx charity Motiv8 has been awarded funding to help launch a new programme dedicated to supporting families affected by addiction.

The grant of £50,000 from the Manx Lottery Trust’s Dormant Assets Fund will assist with the implementation of the M-PACT programme on the Isle of Man.

It's currently being delivered across the UK and Ireland and aims to educate family members on dependency to alcohol, drugs, gambling or gaming and its impact on the wider family circle.

Motiv8 says it will use the money to fund staffing, travel, office costs, management and supervisions, the M-PACT license, M-PACT practitioner training and trainer costs.

Motiv8 Fundraiser Nicola Browne says: 'Our Family Service has developed significantly since its inception, and without it, there would be no provision on the island for this type of support.

'By working across entire families, our work will help to break the cycle, give families the support that they need, when they need it.

'By introducing the M-PACT programme to the Isle of Man, not only are we providing support to local families in need, but we are helping the wider community, as every £1 spent on the programme, a saving of £2.76 is made per family.

'We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Manx Lottery Trust for the vital support, which is significantly enhancing the services we offer.'
