Manx Care to rename treatment centre in honour of long-serving mental health professional

Martyn played a key role in the development of the DAT service

Manx Care is set to rename a treatment centre at Noble’s Hospital in memory of Martyn Mackie, a respected member of staff who dedicated five decades to mental health services on the Isle of Man.

The Drug and Alcohol Team building at Reayrt Noa will be officially renamed 'The Martyn Mackie Treatment Centre' on 21 March, marking two years since his sudden passing.

Martyn played a key role in the development of the DAT service and was still working there at the time of his death.

The renaming ceremony will be led by Ross Bailey, Head of Integrated Mental Health Services, with Martyn’s young son, Cameron Mackie, cutting the ribbon.

Former colleagues and patients are invited to attend the event, which begins at 3pm outside the DAT reception at Reayrt Noa.

Attendees will have the opportunity to share memories of Martyn and gather for refreshments until 5pm.
