Hospice seeking pre-loved clothes and models for festive fashion show

Hospice Isle of Man is looking to combine searching for a party frock with fundraising. 

The charity is hosting a 'Sparkle for Christmas' event where pre-loved clothes will be paraded on the catwalk and sold. 

Hospice's Vanessa Naude said the idea came from a desire to work on a project with sustainability as a key focus.

She said: "Our shops sell amazing dresses of all kinds and outfits but what we wanted to do is create something special for Christmas that would give people the opportunity to donate something that maybe is sitting at the back of their wardrobe that they haven't worn for a while or they've only worn once and they really want to give it another life. 

"It's both an opportunity to give back to Hospice and also to make sure that something that is pre-loved, pre-worn, gets another life, doesn't just get thrown away or just end up staying in the back of the cupboard."

To parade some of the clothes Hospice is holding a fashion show at Laxey Glen on Thursday, 29 October before the boutique shopping soirée where guests will be able to bag a bargain. 

Hospice is seeking donations of items ranging from glam evening wear, to not so sensible shoes, and handbags and accessories perfect for the party season.  

As well as looking for clothes it is also asking for volunteers to be models for the evening.
