This latest story of the famous Jurby Mice is told in over 30 wonderfully detailed and imaginative knitted scenes with accompanying verses showing Belle’s special year. The Jurby Mice were created by Jean Tucker in 2011 and since then Jean and Ros Richards have knitted thousands of Mice as well as gnomes, birds and various other creatures helping raise many thousands of pounds to help save Jurby Church. Isabella Victoria Rose who ‘looks after wild creatures wherever she goes’ is very much a modern day member of the Pheric, which is Manx for Patrick, family. She visits a yoga class for young geese, tends a hedgehog injured by a strimmer and a mallard brings his family for a check up at the Baby Clinic. On other occasions Belle uses a spider's thread to mend a torn wing on a fairy and pays a visit to the Mermouse Queen in her cave palace. Then there is Belle and Barney’s very traditional Mouse Wedding and at the end of the year the celebrations of Christmas and New Year.
This fabulous exhibition continues till the end of September but ‘tea and cake’ ends on 7 July.
The Friends of Jurby Church are raising funds this year for the maintenance and running cost of Jurby Church and to continue urgent repairs to the building.
