Oie Voaldyn (pronounced e voll din) is the Manx for May Eve an afternoon of bands, dancing, stalls, children's activities, 'crosh cuirn' making and many other things. At 4pm there will a children's fancy dress parade from the Fenella beach slipway to Weatherglass Corner, on the corner of Peel Promenade and Quay. The theme is Summer and Winter more information on the Oie Voaldyn website and Facebook page. In the evening there is a mock battle between Summer and Winter (Sourey as Geurey) which was a tradition that used to happen on the Isle of Man. There will be fire, a torchlight procession beginning at 9pm. Many of the traditional Manx May customs are woven into the event.....if you want to find out more come along for a skeet.
